Pre-launch Pentax K10D ISO1600 Image Samples – A Roundup

Note:This post is “obsolete” – for ISO1600 images from production Pentax K10D cameras, go here.

Digital SLR “Image quality” these days is synonymous with the level of high-ISO image performance, and it would seem from the set of early Firmaware Version 0.32 pictures, that the Pentax K10 is no slouch in this department. To my eyes, they’re in fact right up there vs the Nikon D80 and Canon Rebel XTi / 400D.

I’m talking strictly JPG files, and the three 10MP cameras mentioned above basically leave the Sony Alpha A100 and Nikon D200 in the dust.

  1. Four images were linked to in various forum threads and were subsequently taken down – go here to view the originals, note that they’re labelled ‘From a pre-production Pentax K10D camera’. You’d need to be aware that these images were taken in a low-quality JPEG mode, as the file sizes are only about 800 to 900KB in size.
  2. Enjoy this series of progressive ISO shots (ISO200, 400, 800 and ISO1600 in resized and 100% crop picture pairs) posted by Ned Bunnell of his very beautiful Mother.
  3. And finally, an ISO1600 picture of his daughter, shot by Alex123 with his Pentax smc P-DA 16-45mm f/4 ED AL lens at f4 at 21 mm.
